Hello!!
Chapter
7, learning the language. Really important. Life is simpler when you can
speak the language well. Easier to connect, communicate, invite the spirit and
manage life. Although you can still invite the spirit without speaking well
(Spanish for me, lots of fun) and simply speaking well does not make you a
powerful teacher or loving person, it definitely does help. It´s easier to love
people who you can understand and easier to invite the spirit when you´re able
to focus more on the spirit than on the words that you want to say. Language is
a really important tool in inviting others to come unto Christ. [Dad note: this was a reply to a comment in
our email to Hayden]
Along those lines, I
love studying words in the scriptures. There are so many scriptures about
words, the word of God, opening your mouth and things like that. Check out
"With
the Tongue of Angels" a talk from Elder Holland given in the 2007
General conference. Just for a little preview, think about Genesis where God
creates things by his word. And James 3:2 For
in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a
perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
Elder Taylor and I had a
cool experience on Monday night, on our way back from Heidelberg for P-day we
were walking to the mission office to print out some records and we were
talking to everyone. One man looked like he was in a rush and we mildly
hesitated but decided to approach him. He was really busy, so he invited us in
(that is a miracle). We were let into pretty much a Wohngemeinschaft (WG, it´s
like group living for a group of college aged people). We had a really open
conversation with three of the guys living there, they also fed us Milchreis [milk
rice] with cinnamon and sugar and we introduced the
restoration. None of them had much of a religious background and the man who let us in was going to say his first personal prayer that night.

Moments like that
strengthen my testimony that this is God´s work, there are too many
coincidences and beautiful moments like that in life for chance to be the
reason. I love it :)
Till next week,
I love you,
Hayden
oh,
to answer other questions, I typically study like 15 minutes of Spanish a day.
You need to take Nina to the beach just to chill there [Hayden’s sister is hosting a German exchange student for 2 weeks in
March].
