Subject:
Hola!
Sí, mi semana era muy
bien. Nosotros hemos hecho todos! Haha, the week was really fun and really
busy. We had about 8 hours worth of Spanish class in the week. It was a lot of
fun and we learned a lot in a very short amount of time. In the ward there are
lots of Spanish speaking members, many speak German as well. We meet people on
the street every once in a while who speak Spanish, typically from South
American countries.
As far as how long
president keeps people as zone leaders or in areas etc... whenever I feel like
I have an idea or think I kind of know I'm surprised, so I don't know.
Typically more than two transfers, but we'll see, this week is the last week of
the transfer, you could be getting an email next week saying that I've moved to
Hamm. It would be cool to go to one of Taylor's old areas or Heidelberg or this
or that. Thinking about that, I was listening to President Uchtdorf's talk, Lift
where you Stand, this morning and reminded to simply focus as much effort
as I can on the calling, area (etc) that I currently have. It would be really
fun and I like change, but I just can't let that distract me from my own area.
The week was also packed
full of appointments with people who we found. Most fell out, but we did our
best, were really diligent and had a lot of fun.
On Tuesday we went to
the end of our friend Mr V’s doctoral presentation. we didn't really know what
we were going to at first. We met Mr V on the street probably 8 weeks ago now
and been trying to get into contact with him since then. He's been so busy with
his studies that it didn't work out. Anyways, he invited us to his presentation
(or defense of his thesis) on Tuesday and we went. It was such a unique
experience to he at the celebration of a successful doctoral presentation of a
man from Ghana. In the institute for Africanistic. We ate african food, drank
apple juice (while others celebrated with champagne) and talked about language
with really educated people. Mr V really appreciated that we were there to
support him and is excited to meet with us this week. Loving people. It's so
important to show people that you actually love and care about them. The best
way to help and serve them is through the gospel, but often they don't know
that yet. Simply being nice, being a friend and loving people is first of all
the 2nd great commandment (1 love God, 2 love your neighbor. By the way, how do
you serve God, by serving your neighbor Mosiah 2:17,
just don't put your neighbor above God, keep the priorities straight) and
second of all will help them to know that you actually want to help them
through the gospel of Jesus Christ and aren't just trying to get them to read a
book (the Book of Mormon). I'm really grateful to spend time helping people
with Jesus Christ, helping them to be changed through his atonement, the best
help, love and service anyone can receive.
Marinne is home, wow!
Everyone is getting married too, it seems like there's so much change at home
right now. Relief Society president, That's so exciting Mom, that will be a
great calling. Du wirst diese Berufung grossmachen! You'll magnify that
calling! (I really like how that is said in German :) I'm praying for you.
Mr H has answered the
phone, so we know he's still alive. He's told us the last two Sundays that he
would be at church, but has not come yet.
Once a quarter, so every
other transfer, we have a zone conference. 2 or more zones at a big meeting. We
have one coming up in March and the focus is chapter 7 of preach my gospel, the
mission language.
Love,
